⚖️ Sahifund Review – Mahindra Manulife Flexi Cap Fund ✔
✓ PLUS: Mahindra Manulife Flexi Cap Fund does have a few meaningful positives for long-term investors. Its expense ratio of just 0.56% is clearly one of its strongest advantages, making it a cost-efficient option in the flexi-cap category. The fund has also delivered a 3-year return of 14.37%, which is slightly ahead of the benchmark NIFTY 500 TRI, showing that it has at least kept pace with broad-market wealth creation. Its 68-stock portfolio offers healthy diversification, reducing stock-specific blow-up risk. The portfolio is also relatively balanced, with large-cap stability and some mid-cap participation, which makes it suitable for conservative SIP-oriented investors. For those who prefer a less flashy, lower-cost diversified equity option from a growing AMC, this fund remains relevant.
⚖️ MINUS: The bigger issue is that the fund still looks average rather than compelling when compared with stronger flexi-cap peers. Its 1-year return of -0.69% is weak and slightly worse than the category average, indicating poor recent momentum. Against category leaders like Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, HDFC Flexi Cap and HDFC Focused, it clearly trails on alpha generation and long-term wealth creation. The portfolio also carries a heavy large-cap tilt (70.75%), which may reduce upside in strong broader-market rallies. Its turnover of 60% is on the higher side for a diversified fund, which means it is not exactly a low-churn, buy-and-hold style strategy. In short, this is a stable fund — but not one that currently stands out as a category leader.
Sahifund View (Decisive Line):
A decent low-cost flexi-cap fund for steady SIP investors — but still not strong enough to displace better-established category leaders.
