⚖️ Sahifund Review — SBI Flexicap Fund ✓
PLUS: Stability, track record, cost efficiency
SBI Flexicap Fund carries a long and proven track record since 2013, offering investors comfort of continuity across multiple market cycles. The fund follows a large-cap–oriented flexi-cap strategy, which helps reduce volatility during market corrections. Long-term returns in the 14–16% range over 7–10 years reflect steady compounding rather than aggressive swings. Backed by SBI Mutual Fund, the fund benefits from institutional research depth and strong risk-management frameworks. It works well as a conservative equity allocation within a diversified portfolio.
MINUS: Large AUM, large-cap bias, momentum lag
With assets exceeding Rs. 23,500 Cr, flexibility to generate sharp alpha is limited. The portfolio has a heavy large-cap tilt, which can cause underperformance during mid- and small-cap bull phases. Expense ratio is on the higher side, impacting net returns versus lower-cost peers. Recent 1–3 year performance has lagged category averages, indicating momentum challenges.
Decisive Line (Sahifund View):
Best suited for conservative SIP investors (5+ years) who prioritise stability and capital preservation over aggressive outperformance in flexi-cap funds.

Suitable For Which Investors?
When you invest for five years or more, you can expect gains that comfortably beat the inflation rate as well as returns from fixed income options. But be prepared for ups and downs in your investment value along the way.
This is a flexi-cap fund where the fund management team has complete freedom to invest in companies of different sizes, depending on where it expects maximum gains. This versatility makes flexi-cap funds most suitable for equity fund investors, as the job of stock selection is left completely to the fund manager, which is the very idea of investing in a mutual fund.
Like for all equity funds, you must invest only through the SIP route.
Fund’s Investment Strategy:
The scheme would invest in equities and equity related instruments of companies spanning the entire market capitalization spectrum. The fund will invest 50-90 per cent in large-cap stocks, 10-40 per cent in mid-cap stocks and upto 10 per cent in small-cap stocks.
