Samco Mid Cap Fund – Detailed Review
Samco Mid Cap Fund is an open-ended equity fund that invests predominantly in mid-cap companies, benchmarked against the NIFTY Midcap 150 TRI. The benchmark has delivered strong long-term returns (~25% CAGR over 5 years), but with sharp interim drawdowns, making timing and patience crucial.
The fund offers broad diversification across 150 mid-cap stocks, reducing single-stock risk but remaining sensitive to market cycles.
Valuations in the mid-cap space are currently elevated (P/E ~33x), which may limit near-term returns and increase volatility during corrections.
The fund is managed by a four-member team, largely from Samco’s internal research setup; however, past performance of other Samco equity funds has been inconsistent versus benchmarks.
Investors should view this fund as a satellite allocation, not a core holding, and commit only with a long-term (7+ years) horizon.
Sahifund Verdict:
Avoid for conservative investors; suitable only for high-risk investors comfortable with mid-cap volatility
Disclaimer: Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme related documents carefully
