What is the Benchmark Index of PGIM India Retirement Fund?
The S&P BSE 500 index is designed to be a broad representation of the Indian market. Consisting of the top 500 companies listed at BSE Ltd., the index covers all major industries in the Indian economy.
Index Attributes:
The index consists of 500 constituents listed at BSE Ltd. It is calculated using a float-adjusted, market-cap-weighted methodology. Regarded as a proxy for the Indian economy, the S&P BSE 500 captures more than 95% of the market cap of the listed universe at BSE Ltd.
Methodology Construction
1) Universe. Constituents must be members of the S&P BSE AllCap.
2) Market Cap. Index market cap is based on float-adjusted market cap.
3) Liquidity. This is measured by using average three-month value traded in the rank value traded in the ranking calculation. In addition, eligible companies must have traded for at least 80% of the trading days at the BSE during the three-month reference period.
4) Constituent Selection. Eligible stocks are considered for index inclusion based on their final ranking standing. Rankings are calculated assuming a combination of average total market cap, average float-adjusted market cap, and average value traded, over a period of six months prior to the rebalancing. The top 500 ranked stocks form the index. In order to keep turnover at a minimum, new eligible securities will only be considered for index inclusion if current index stocks fail to remain among the top 550 securities. Between rebalancing dates, an index addition generally is made only if a vacancy is created by an index deletion. Deletions may occur at any time due to acquisitions, mergers, spin-offs, suspension or bankruptcies.
