Investment Strategy
The scheme seeks to generate returns and growth of capital by investing in a diversified portfolio of Central and State Government securities and Other fixed income/ debt securities maturing on or before the date of maturity of the scheme with the objective of limiting interest rate volatility.

CRISIL Medium Term Debt Index seeks to track the performance of a medium term debt portfolio comprising of government securities and AAA/AA rated corporate bonds
Features:
● Total Return Index seeking to capture coupon and price returns of the underlying portfolio
● Base date for the Index : October 01, 2004
● Index portfolio marked-to-market on a daily basis using CRISIL Gilt and Bond valuations
● Index is fully invested at all points of time with no cash component
● Derived index from the following sub-indices
− CRISIL Short Term Gilt Index
− CRISIL AAA Medium Term Bond Index
− CRISIL AA Medium Term Bond Index
Key Characteristics:
● Rich history: CRISIL Medium Term Debt Index has an inception date of October 01, 2004. Thus the index has
been in existence over a decade, seen multiple interest rate cycles, and has stood the test of time
● Liquidity: The index seeks to capture the movement in a portfolio consisting of most liquid government and
corporate securities by using appropriate market representation
● Replicability: The index constituents are valued on a daily basis. This lends the index a realistic approach by
having the valuations close to the market levels
Methodology:
● Weights to government securities will be fixed at 15%
● Weights to sub-indices within corporate bonds will be rebalanced annually based on previous year issuances
● Index valued on a daily basis using CRISIL Gilt and Bond valuations
