Guidance for Motilal Oswal Developed Market Ex US ETFs FoF NFO by Paresh Gordhandas, C.A., Research Analyst.
A ‘Fund Of Funds’ (FOF) is an investment strategy of holding a portfolio of other investment funds rather than investing directly in stocks, bonds or other securities. An FOF Scheme of a primarily invests in the units of another Mutual Fund scheme.
In this case it means, that the Fund Manager will invest in ETFs of developed countries, excluding USA. This includes countries like Australia, Canada, Japan, European Countries etc.
An investment in this kind of fund gives the investor the benefit of diversification, rather than keeping all their investments in Indian companies which might be affected as a whole in case of some negative economic development. It is a chance to invest in economies of developed countries, while being in India.
However, in the current scenario, world over investors are flocking to India since the potential development of Indian economy is much higher than those of developed countries and vis-a-vis , the returns given by Indian companies will also be higher.
Can invest a small amount from your entire portfolio to get benefit of diversification.
