Guidance for Kotak S&P BSE Housing Index Fund NFO by Paresh Gordhandas, C.A., Research Analyst.
The scheme is seeks to replicate the composition of the S&P BSE Housing Index. Which type of companies are part of this Index, you ask. Companies engaged in manufacturing of construction material, construction companies, housing finance companies, capital goods companies and some consumer discretionary companies. The Index has a total of 27 companies and hence the fund (Kotak S&P BSE Housing Index Fund) will also be investing in the same 27 companies.
Some of the examples of the companies include HDFC, Asian Paints, Astral, Ultratech Cement, DLF, Grasim etc.
With the uptick in Indian economy, housing demand is expected to rise exponentially both in tier-1 and tier-2 cities. Simultaneously , there will be a huge demand for housing finance , cement and other material required in construction.
The Kotak S&P BSE Housing Index Fund can be compared directly to the very recently launched UTI S&P BSE Housing Index Fund (launched in June 2023). This fund currently has a very small AUM of Rs. 10 crores. Since it is not even three months since the fund was launched, it is not possible to take a judgement on fund performance.
One can invest in the Kotak S&P BSE Housing Index Fund for a period of 1-2 years and after that review your investment based on the economic scenario.
