What is the Benchmark Index?
CRISIL Ultra Short Term Debt Index seeks to track the performance of an ultra-short term debt portfolio comprising of Treasury Bills, short term AAA/AA rated corporate bonds, and A1+ rated Commercial Papers and Certificates of Deposit.
Features:
1. Total Return Index seeking to capture coupon and price returns of the underlying portfolio
2. Base date for the Index : January 01, 1997
3. Index portfolio marked-to-market on a daily basis using CRISIL debt valuations
4. Index is fully invested at all points of time with no cash component
5. Derived index from the following sub-indices
1. CRISIL Composite CD Index
2. CRISIL Composite CP Index
3. CRISIL Composite T-Bill Index
4. CRISIL AA Short Term Bond Index
5. CRISIL AAA Short Term Bond Index
Key Characteristics:
● Liquidity: The index seeks to capture the movement in a portfolio consisting of most liquid securities by using appropriate market representation
● Replicability: The index constituents are valued on a daily basis. This lends the index a realistic approach by having the valuations close to the market levels
Methodology:
1. Weights to corporate bonds will be fixed at 5% and that to T-Bills will be fixed at 10%
2. Weights to sub-indices within corporate bonds and between CP CD indices will be distributed based on issuance
3. Index valued on a daily basis using CRISIL debt Valuation services
