MF industry AUM hit 11-month low,Seen zero growth
The mutual fund industry , which makes money managing assets – has seen zero growth in 11 months.
The assets managed by mutual funds in India, declined to their lowest level in 11 months in June 2022 . The AUM for the industry was at Rs 35.64 trillion on June 30 — the lowest since January 31, 2022 when it was at Rs. 38 trillion. The AUM has fallen over 6 per cent from their peak
The MF industry has seen zero growth in 11 months.
Even the Shares of four listed AMCs have underperformed the market over the past year, declining between 20 per cent and 40 per cent.
In spite of Net flows in the equity segment remaining positive for the 16th straight month in June , the fall in AUM is largely due to a decline in asset prices — both in equity and debt segments.
The industry is targeting Rs 100-trillion AUM by 2030. However, prolonged weakness in the market could lead to a delay in achieving this milestone, observe experts.
